Plumbing Repair

Most people don’t think of plumbing repairs, until they are right in the middle of a leaky toilet or clogged sink scenario, and need emergency help quickly. A reliable plumber is the only one you can trust to perform permanent repairs of your toilet, sink, tub, or other plumbing fixtures, but you can make a few simple emergency plumbing repairs yourself. If you have an overflowing toilet, first use the shut-off valve to stop the water supply to the toilet. If you can’t find the shut-off valve, simply turn off the main water supply. Use a plunger to remove the obstruction in the toilet. For plumbing faucet repairs, unscrew the faucet, and look for damaged washers or valves inside. If these are damaged, replace them, and get a plumber to fix your leaky faucet.

To unclog your bathroom shower drain, first remove the strainer cover by using a screwdriver. Using a flashlight, look for any visible signs of blockage, and if you see one, use a straightened hanger to fish out the blockage. If this doesn’t work, plumbing a small plunger about 20 times can dislodge the obstruction. Keep plunging until the abstraction has been sucked out near enough for you to see it. Then, use a hanger to fish the clog out. Toilet repairs are among the most dreaded home plumbing repairs to attempt. To fix an overflowing toilet, use a plunger to dislodge the clog. Do the same for a clogged toilet, and plunge at least 15 to 20 times. After every plunging session, pour some water into the toilet, and see if the clog is washed away. Remember, plunging doesn’t always work immediately, and you might have to plunge a few times to see any results.

These are just a few basic plumbing repair steps you can take to get your home plumbing working again. If these don’t work, call a professional plumbing repair service to fix the problem. To find professionals for bathroom repair, toilet repair, copper plumbing repair, pipe repair, and other kinds of home plumbing repair, trust our plumbing company.

WATER HEATERS

Water Heater Installation and Repair Services

Your water heater may often be effective for around eight to twelve years—after which it may start to be less efficient and more prone to failure while using up more energy. If you have had your water heater for more than twelve years, don’t wait for disaster to happen. Our plumbers can repair or replace your water heater unit today!

Two of the most important reasons to repair or replace the water heater in your home or office include:

  • Sediment Buildup: As your water heater gets older, sediment buildup often forms around the sides of the tank and burner. When the minerals in this sediment buildup are not filtered out through the heater, they can create a barrier that settles on the burner and can severely affect the performance of your water heater.
  • Incomplete Burning: If the flame on the tip of your burner appears to be a yellow-orange color, this may be a sign of incomplete burning, which may indicate the production of deadly carbon monoxide.

Our professional staff can help you with all your water heater repair and installation needs. We offer services for the repair and installation of many types of water heaters, including gas, electric, or tankless water heaters.

If you think your water heater may need repairs, call us today for a free estimate!

Re-piping

If you’ve ever experienced any leak in your water lines, you know how frustrating it can be. Monitoring and checking your water meter regularly can help prevent this kind of unexpected and costly occurrence. At the first sign of water line leakage or pipe deterioration, you’ll want to contact our professional plumbers.  We specialize in providing residents with a whole house re-piping. We can assess your plumbing system and detect any damaged or deteriorated pipes. Once we pinpoint the damaged plumbing pipe, we can perform re-piping which will restore your plumbing pipes back to working order.

Maintaining the health of your water lines and pipes is crucial to the overall efficiency of your plumbing and fixtures as well as your budget! We are committed to giving you the highest quality of services no matter what we do

Over the years we have seen many area homes with pipe leaks costing our customers thousands of dollars worth of water, sheetrock, and tile damage. Pinhole leaks are common in galvanized, copper, and poly piping, especially in homes built in our area from the early 1970′s, 1980′s, and 1990′s. We believe most of the pipe failures are the result of a combination of the water quality and the pipe which was used during this period. The quality of the pipe apparently did not meet the quality standards of today.

Additionally, increases in chemicals and chlorinates added to the water supply from municipal water treatment systems have sped up the erosion of galvanized, copper, and poly water lines from within.

The average galvanized pipe lasts around 40 years, copper pipe lasts around 20 years, and poly pipe 20 years before it will need to be replaced.

Slab Leak Repair Experts

Slab Leaks: What, How, and What To Do

Slab leaks are some of the most difficult leaks for homeowners to deal with. Due to their hidden nature, they are difficult to detect until they’ve already caused significant water damage, and fixing them is not like unclogging a drain. Here’s some important information about slab leaks:

What is a slab leak?

Most houses are built on a concrete slab. Plumbers run pipes underneath that slab because installing them there is cheaper, quieter, and more amenable to extreme hot and cold water temperatures than running them through walls. When one of those pipes starts to leak, you have a slab leak. Slab leaks can be caused by chemical reactions of pipes with soil, improperly wrapped pipes or pipes that were nicked or crimped while being installed, all of which can compromise the integrity of the pipes over time.

How do I know if I have a slab leak?

Slab leaks are not always easy to spot, but a few signs you may have one include:

  • An unusually high water bill when your water use hasn’t changed
  • A spot in the floor that is unusually hot, indicating hot water is pooling under it
  • A sudden lowering of water pressure
  • Hearing running water when no faucets are on
  • The appearance of mildew or mold in your carpets, indicating surplus moisture
  • The appearance of cracks in your floor or walls, indicating structural damage caused by the destabilized concrete slab
  • A leak warning in the leak detector on your water meter, if you have one

If you think you have a leak but the above signs are unclear, you can perform a simple water meter test to see for sure. Go to your water meter, turn off the water to your house, and make note of the meter reading. Leave the water off for an hour and check it again. If the reading has changed, you probably have a leak.

Can slab leaks be repaired?

Yes! Our Plumbing Company is qualified with extensive experience in repairing slab leaks. We’ll be happy to put our professional staff to work to repair your slab leak. Give us a call today.

Why using a Plumber for your Bathroom Remodel makes sense

Remodeling your bathroom may be a smaller job than your kitchen or living room, but it’s arguably as important if not more important than those other rooms. Other than your bedroom, your bathroom is the most intimate and personal room in your house, and whether you are remodeling it for convenience, elegance, or decadence, ensuring a perfect bathroom remodel is paramount. Employing a plumber or plumbing contractor for your bathroom remodel will help.

Experienced plumbers will be able to offer a wide range of bathroom remodeling services. They will be able to design a new bathroom layout based on your requirements and desires, whether you’re going for traditional or contemporary, Spartan or stylish. They can recommend, repair, and install all components of a comfortable bathroom, including bath fixtures and faucets, tubs and showers, toilets and sinks, and even Jacuzzis and massage baths. They will have recommendations on the wall, floor, and ceiling materials to work best with your bathroom’s individual plumbing. If your bathroom needs to be handicapped-accessible, they will know the best ways to build that accessibility into the design. And they will make sure all of this can be done within your budget.

A professional plumber understands that every bathroom remodel is unique, and will work closely with you through the entire process. The plumber will guide you through the remodel from beginning to end before any work is begun, check in with you regularly throughout the job, and ensure your satisfaction with their experience. Quality plumbers will also provide comprehensive free estimates and an absolute guarantee of their work on your bathroom remodel.

Three reasons why you need a plumber for a Kitchen Remodel

Taking on a kitchen remodel project is one of the larger-scale home projects out there. Your kitchen, perhaps more than any other room in your home, combines carpentry, tile/masonry, plumbing, electricity, and other construction areas in unique and, given that you’re planning a remodel, sometimes inconvenient ways. It’s not impossible to remodel a kitchen on your own, but due to the complexity of the room, hiring specialists might be a better way to ensure that your remodel goes smoothly.

Because of the importance of water in your kitchen, one of those specialists needs to be a plumber. Here are three ways using a plumber for your kitchen remodel will be helpful:

  1. A Plumber is an expert at connecting, expanding, and adjusting your home’s pipes and water lines. If you want the sink to be in a different place in your new kitchen, or you want to add a dishwasher or have a washing machine in or near the new kitchen, the plumber is the specialist who will strategize how to include these developments in, or add them to, your home’s current plumbing design.
  2. If your home has not been remodeled in a long time, there’s a good chance that some of the kitchen water pipes may need to be repaired or replaced before the construction of new counters and cabinets takes place. The plumber knows how to do those repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Plumbers are used to working with general contractors and with individuals, so they will easily be able to fit their work to the needs and schedule that either you or your contractor set up.

Our Plumbing Company is qualified and experienced with extensive practice in kitchens and other home remodels. To discuss your next remodel needs, give us a call today.

Re-Piping a Bathroom

Many homes in the area are built on concrete slabs. This typically means that plumbing either is installed in the attic or under the slab itself. Depending on how your home is constructed re-piping can be a somewhat easy process or a difficult one. Only a licensed, reputable plumber will be able to assess the situation to determine how best to address the problem.

When is Re-Piping a Bathroom Necessary?

As pipes begin to age, they can begin to leak and need to be replaced. If you are beginning to see water damage on any of your sheetrock or you notice a drop in water pressure, you may be in need of bathroom re-piping. The average life of galvanized piping is around 40 years whereas if you have copper piping, the pipes will likely last around 20 years. While these are only estimates, it gives you a ballpark of how often you may need to have your bathroom re-piped. It is important to contact a plumber as soon as possible if you begin to notice a leak or water damage anywhere in or around your bathroom. Water damage due to leaks can lead to mold and severe problems, which can be prevented if you act quickly.

Why is a Foul Smell Coming from My Faucets?

If you are beginning to smell a stench coming from your pipes, it may be an indication that you need to have re-piping done in your home. The reason that your pipes have this smell is that they are corroded. Re-piping a home can help to remove that nasty smell from your pipes and often significantly increase your water pressure.

What Types of Pipes are Installed Today?

If your home or bathroom is re-piped, plumbers will likely use either copper piping or PEX. PEX is a cheaper material used for repiping that performs well and is also corrosion-resistant. However, a large number of plumbers are still using copper for re-piping due to its reliability and durability. Copper pipes rust and corrode must slower than iron pipes which were used for so many years and are the material of choice in most bathroom re-piping jobs today.

Clogged Drains?……It may be Roots!

Getting to the Root of the Problem… and Freeing up those Drain Lines for Good! Love those trees and shrubs, but below ground, they could be wreaking havoc with your drain lines. Now, we give you two ways to make the problem disappear.

Clogged sewer and drain lines can be a real pain.

The mess, the odor, the inconvenience…there’s nothing fun about it. Of course, as a careful homeowner, you know lots of useful tricks for preventing clogged drains…

pouring your cooking grease into a coffee can, clearing your sinks of hair, keeping paper towels out of your toilets, and so on.

But what does one do about invasive tree and shrub roots?

Yep, you heard us right. Roots can cause real problems with your underground sewer line, and here’s how the process usually works:

  • Galvanized drain lines, over time, will crack;
  • In the meantime, tree roots and shrubs seek out moisture…including inside your drain lines;
  • Over time, roots grow, cracks widen, and sewer lines break;
  • Ultimately, debris builds up inside the line, thus causing backed-up drains.

And now for the good news. We can solve any root-caused problem in no time. That’s right…we have the sophisticated drain cleaning equipment to dig out tree and shrub roots fast. And with our trenchless root-clearing technique, your lawn will not be damaged.

As for prevention? We offer three time-tested suggestions:

  • Avoid planting trees and shrubs near your sewer line;
  • If your sewer line breaks, ask to have it replaced with PVC plastic piping…the kind that keeps roots out;
  • Every now and then, pour an environmentally friendly root killer down your drain to kill existing roots, prevent new growth…and all without damaging your trees or shrubs.

The moral of the story? It’s not easy being a homeowner. But we are here to lend a helping hand, you can enjoy a more comfortable standard of living in your home.

Water Pressure

When it’s right, you don’t think about it. When it slows down – and stays slow – you want corrective action, and you want it now!

Let’s say, for example, that you can’t wash your dishes at the same time that you water your lawn because the water pressure is too weak. Or, more commonly, two people can’t take a shower at the same time, or someone flushes a toilet while another family member takes a shower…and so on.

Water pressure may be low for a couple of reasons. If the experience is common among your several neighbors, then call your local water company and report the problem…especially if you experience low water pressure throughout your home. Perhaps a supply valve is closed that, when re-opened, can solve the problem immediately.

If, however, the problem is confined to one or even a few fixtures or faucets, then here’s a quick and easy suggestion on how you might just be able to restore adequate water pressure on your own:

Check for a clogged aerator, which is the round screened screw-on tip of a faucet. It mixes water and air for a smoother flow. You also might have a dislodged or worn washer, which you can determine by unscrewing your faucet head. If dislodged, you can simply put it back in place. If it shows signs of wear and tear, you can pick up a new one at any hardware store and replace it yourself.

If that doesn’t do the trick, and the problem isn’t with your main water supply, then the most likely culprits are your indoor pipes.

  • Calcium and other mineral deposits inside your pipes will certainly have an effect on water pressure, and might even require a water treatment solution. This is a job for a professional plumber and should be looked at sooner or later, as the problem will only grow worse with time.
  • Your home might also have been built with undersized pipes. Many homes, in fact, were built with ½” galvanized pipes, when it would have cost very little more to have installed ¾” pipes. Upgrading to ¾” copper pipes can actually double the amount of water pressure flowing from any fixture in your home. Plus, copper pipes last longer and resist calcium and other mineral build-ups.

Pretty amazing, don’t you think? Well, so is our ability to help you obtain all the water pressure you’ll ever want or need.

So if your water pressure isn’t what it should be, and you’re not getting anywhere on your own, call us today and save $50 on our pipe replacement or water conditioning services.

Endless Hot Water That Saves You Money

Water When You Want It, And as Often as You Want It. Sound Interesting? Wait ‘til You Hear the Part About Increased Energy Savings!

Chances are you have the traditional kind of water heater: one with a storage tank that refills itself as needed and keeps the water content hot, even when you’re not drawing water from it.

But that isn’t your only option. In fact, today you have two clear and distinct water heater types to choose from “demand”, or “tank-less water heaters. The latter have been available in the U.S. since the early 1980’s, and are becoming increasingly popular with homeowners all over the country.

Here’s why:

  • Unlike tank water heaters, tank-less water heaters heat water only as it is used, or on-demand.
  • A tank-less unit has a heating device that is activated by the flow of water when a hot water valve is opened. Once activated, the heater delivers a constant supply of hot water.
  • You can purchase “whole-house” models or “booster” units to increase the amount of hot water available in your bathroom or other areas of your home.
  • Separate tank-less water heaters can be installed and inter-connected for separate uses, or to reinforce the total hot water supply available to you at any given time.

Selecting a Demand Water Heater

Select a demand water heater based on the maximum amount of hot water to meet your peak demand. And by doing so, you’ll automatically cut down on your energy consumption and related costs. We can help you choose wisely based on the average amounts of water used for showers, washing machines, dishwashers, and so on.

Expected Cost Savings

While tank-less water heaters typically cost more than storage tank units, you’ll enjoy lower operating costs and extended system life.

Consider the following:

  • Water heating accounts for 20% or more of your average annual energy bill;
  • Yearly operating costs for conventional demand (gas or electric) storage tank water heaters average $200 or $450, respectively.

By switching to a tank-less unit, you’ll realize cost savings by not having to heat water continuously. Plus, the average tank-less system has a “shelf life” of greater than 20 years, vs. 10-12 years for a storage tank system. And that results in even greater longer-term savings.

Bottom line, our company has the skill, experience, and desire to assist you with all your hot water needs. And now, with the coupon below, we can help you save $150 on a fully installed tank-less hot water system to provide a steady supply of hot water in your home

Prepare for Winter

Our Plumbing Company wants to help you get your home ready for winter, now is the time. So when snow is on the ground there will be no surprises, “The best surprise is no surprise.” As the temperatures drop, we dig out our winter gear to protect ourselves from the cold. So why not do the same for your home? Keeping the cold air out of your home takes a little more effort than closing doors and windows. Every crack, opening, and space allows the cold to seep in, creating higher energy bills.

Air leakage occurs when outside air enters the house uncontrollably through cracks and openings. Air leakage accounts for 30 percent of a home’s heating and cooling costs. Furthermore, it allows for moisture, dust, pollutants, rodents, and insects that do not belong in your home.

Getting your home ready for winter is a worthwhile investment, whether you call a professional or do it yourself.

Locating all the open spaces is not as easy as looking at doors and windows. Electrical sockets, mail chutes, lines coming into the home, outdoor water faucets, air conditioners installed in the window, vents, floors, and foundations are places where unwanted leakage can take place. Trying to find all these leaks can take time and may require a professional to find them all. If the cracks and openings are not sealed up properly the outside air will continue to get in.

There are many ways for you to weatherize your home. Weather-stripping, caulking, gaskets, tapes, adhesives, and space fillers are all great ways to insulate your home.

If it’s important that your home is sealed properly, call us for more information on how to make your home more energy-efficient.

Electrical savings

Every winter, electricity consumption increases. But there are plenty of simple tricks that can lower energy consumption at home.

Every year, an average household can dispose of 3,000-6,000 kWh in household electricity. In addition, up to 15,000 kWh for heating and 6,000 kWh for hot water are added to the villas.

It is possible to reduce electricity consumption a great deal through fairly simple measures. Here we list some of them:
1. Lower the indoor temperature. One degree reduces energy use by about five percent.
2. Have new sealing strips around windows and doors.
3. Fold down blinds or blinds during winter nights to keep it warm.
4. Use energy-efficient lighting. LED and low-energy lamps are considerably more energy-efficient and last longer. Each replaced lamp provides energy saving.
5. Turn off the light. There is no more electricity when you turn it on and off frequently. Get hours or motion sensors to make sure the light is only on when you are there.
6. Unplug any chargers or other adapters when not in use.
7. Use energy-saving mode on your TV and computer if such a function exists.
8. Do not use standby mode on devices older than five years.
9. Turn off underfloor heating and towel rail when not needed.
10. Set the correct temperature in the refrigerator (+5 degrees) and freezer (-18 degrees). Make sure the doors close tightly.
11. Clean the back of the fridge a couple of times a year.
12. Thaw frozen food in the fridge before cooking. The fridge benefits from the cold in frozen food.
13. Use a kettle that draws less energy than the built-in burner.
14. Cook with a lid and choose the right size of the saucepan. It can save 80 percent of the energy.
15. Use the microwave instead of the cooker/oven when cooking less food.
16. Wash at 40 degrees instead of 60 degrees, whenever possible. It can almost halve energy consumption.
17. Use the highest centrifugation, which is the most effective way to dry your clothes. Or hang up your clothes if you have time.
18. Air dry the laundry outdoors if possible. A dryer pulls up to four times more electricity than a washing machine, a drying cabinet eight times as much.
19. Using a dishwasher draws less energy than washing by hand. However, the disk cost becomes higher, because the dishwasher detergent is about ten times more expensive than hand dishwashing detergent. So make a summary of how you do it.
20. Be sure to fill the dishwasher properly. It can consume almost as much energy half full as full.
21. Water-saving taps and showerheads can almost halve your hot water usage. How often and how long you shower also affects energy consumption.
22. Check the energy label when buying new appliances. The operating cost is up to 80% of the total cost of an appliance’s life. A glass-ceramic burner draws about 20 percent less than one with a cast iron plate. An induction cooker draws 40 percent less.

Energy Services

At our company, we are not only about saving our customers money. We’re about saving the environment while we’re at it. Our Energy Services department offers comprehensive Lighting Retrofit programs specifically tailored to meet your needs.

In-Depth Analysis and Consulting

Chances are, your lighting system is not running as efficiently as it could be. That’s where our Energy Services team comes in. We’ll perform the appropriate tests, ask the right questions and compile the necessary data from your facilities and turn it all into realistic, customized plans to save you thousands on your energy usage. Not to mention, you’ll reduce your carbon footprint.

Think you can’t afford to start a major lighting project right now? You can’t afford not to. Not only do we offer 100% project financing, but by the time we’re done with your retrofit project, it will have practically paid for itself through energy savings and Government Rebates. Don’t know how Government Rebates work or where to start? We’ll take care of that too. We’ve done the research and we know how to find you every penny possible to help make your lighting project affordable.

Project Management

Once we have thoroughly evaluated your specific energy needs, we’ll take care of the rest. Our project management team will take your lighting retrofit from design to cleanup. Whether you want a full or a partial retrofit, we’ll go anywhere in the U.S. to get the job done right. We can even provide after-hours or weekend installations if you can’t schedule during regular business hours.

We also offer turnkey or labor-only capabilities, depending on customer preference. Many of our major projects have been in conjunction and coordination with large, widely known, and well-respected ESCO’s, who are familiar with our quality-controlled processes and standards.

Continuing Results

Even if we’re just doing one project for you, we are confident in the fact that our energy solutions will provide measurable results. After the work is done, we will stick around to provide measurement and verification of just how much energy you are using now compared to before the retrofit work was performed.

We can even offer post-installation service contracts to free your staff from routine lighting maintenance and the hassles of warranty follow-through.  We’ll be there making sure that your facility’s entire lighting system operates at peak efficiency levels for years after your retrofit project has been completed.

Our company has a lengthy history and we plan to be around for a long time to come. Building strong, trusting relationships with our customers and our suppliers is what has made us who we are today, and it’s what will carry us into the future.

We also recognize the fragile state that our planet is in today and the fact that everyone must pitch in to help make our future bright. We are committed to helping the earth not only by using Green practices in our everyday operations but also by providing our customers solutions to reducing their carbon footprint.

Whether we are your regular service provider or we are just working with you on a special project, we’re always looking for ways you can improve your energy savings. We notice the little things, and we want you to know exactly what’s wasting your energy and how to fix it.

In addition to energy use, the natural resources consumed when light bulbs and fixtures are made can have a major impact on the earth. That’s why we not only install the most environmentally conscious materials in your facilities, we recycle the old materials too

Internal Green Initiatives

As a business and as responsible members of society, we employ a number of practices that allow us to operate in a sustainable manner. Our fleet of vehicles used to service our customers’ facilities is constantly being upgraded so that we are using less fuel and emitting fewer pollutants.

Technology has allowed us all many advancements that can help reduce our carbon footprint, we are excited to be using these tools to reduce our impact on the earth. By using a GPS monitoring system in each of our vehicles, we can track the number of miles each technician drives, ensuring that we are reducing any unnecessary travel. Not only that, but we are now able to use hand-held reporting devices to progressively adjust to a paperless workflow.

As more advancements are made, we will be close behind to make sure we are doing the most we can to make tomorrow even brighter than today.
